Tooth Decay
Tooth decay occurs when a build-up of plaque and tartar leads to erosion of the tooth’s enamel (outer surface). This erosion causes tiny holes, which can be painful or cause sensitivity to hot or cold food and drinks.
To repair holes in the teeth, your dentist will remove any decaying enamel and fill the area with a composite resin (or filling). If decay has damaged the tooth’s pulp, root canal treatment and a crown may be needed to repair the tooth.
