Chrome Dentures
Chrome Dentures are made from cast metal and considered of all the different types of denture to be the one most suited to being used as a permanent partial denture because it is one of the strongest available metals that does not irritate the mouth.
Unlike plastic partial dentures which are clipped onto the remaining teeth, the chrome cobalt partial denture actually rests on the teeth. The clasps ensure the denture remains firm and prevents any damage to your mouth’s soft tissue caused by up and down movement, rubbing or gum irritation.
The chrome partial denture is by far vastly superior to plastic partial dentures and your gums will stay healthier because the pressure of your bite and the chewing forces that you use when eating, is shared between the gums and any teeth which are remaining.
In some cases you may be able to have an open palate because with chrome dentures, there is less material covering the soft tissue in your mouth, this also allows you to taste better and improve detection of hot or cold temperatures which in turn, reduces the risk of scalding the mouth.
