Meet your Geelong dental team

Practice Manager

  • Ashwini Jacob

I have 10+ years of dental experience, having worked across practices in New Zealand and Australia. Quality patient care is very important to me and being sure that patients receive the absolute best care while they are at the practice is one of my top priorities.  The most important lesson I’ve learned in my working career is that you can’t do it alone. You need a team to help you. You can accomplish great things together. Looking after my staff and supporting their growth has always been my number one priority.

Outside work, I love long drives, dining out and spending quality time with my husband, my two children and my Golden Retriever.

  • Dr Simon McPherson

Simon graduated from dental school at Melbourne University in 1995. He spent much of his first years travelling overseas and working locum positions around Australia. He worked as a civilian contractor to HMAS Cerberus from 2000 to 2007. The highlight for Simon was being mentored and performing wisdom surgery under general anaesthetic alongside one of the local oral surgeons. Simon then moved to Geelong and began working for James St Dental in 2007. After completing numerous implant courses, Simon commenced placing dental implants at James St Dental.

Amidst the GFC and the uncertainty with business in the region, and with a young family to provide for, he left JSD in 2011. Simon practised at Collins St alongside a speciality-trained prosthodontist, there, he enhanced his cosmetic bite rehabilitation and implant skills. Simon also completed short courses in Invisalign and Smilefast orthodontic tooth movement. Simon has experience in all facets of dentistry, including cosmetic solutions. Simon takes the time to speak and work with patients to achieve the best possible solution/outcome for them. Simon takes great satisfaction in providing excellent results.

At that point Simon returned to JSD in May 2016 after suffering a life threatening illness at the end of 2015. Simon notes that his life experiences have taught him compassion, humility and patience. Outside of dentistry, Simon tends to spend most of his time with his family. He enjoys listening to music and getting creative in the kitchen. Simon places a lot of emphasis on prevention of oral diseases, because as the old age states “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of the cure”.
